Charlie Meeker Hates Vampyres

Charlie Meeker is finishing up his senior year of high school. Whether it’s being berated by his vicious step-parents, running from the bullies or trying not to look like a complete buffoon in front of girls, Charlie just can’t catch a break. That is until Charlie meets a mysterious stranger named Jean. Jean introduces Charlie to a world where young men and women can conjure magic from great literature and Vampyres are slowly starting to infiltrate governments all around the world. Following Jean, Charlie’s journey takes him from his from Minnesota home to the countryside of France where he faces his deepest fears and meets his first love.


For the better part of the last decade I have tutored kids in “Language Arts” at the high school level. While working with my students I knew that I needed to find new and innovative ways to get them to read. I wanted to teach them that real magic can come from loving to read. That desire drove me to write my first novel, Charlie Meeker Hates Vampyres. I decided to write a book that was a media rich, iPad exclusive, text to grab young adult readers that were digital natives. With a touch-screen interface that includes forty-two original songs to soundtrack the individual chapters, unique artwork, 3D models of key artifacts from the text, video vignettes and a handful original recipes, this is an e-book experience that has never been seen before.
