"Forget Your Troubles and be Happy": Una Aproximacion Etnografica a la Ideologia Del Entretenimiento en El Cine Estadounidense Contemporaneo‪.‬

Traditional ideological approaches to mainstream cinema tend to see audiences as universally passive and acquiescent with the messages the films thrust at them, but recent reception studies find a much greater variety in spectators' responses to individual texts and genres. In order to explore the ways in which "real Spanish spectators" respond to the ideology of recent Hollywood fare we have set up an ethnographic method of enquiry adapted to our own needs. This article presents the first results of our field research. Our provisional conclusion suggests that spectators are often wary of the ideology of the Hollywood films they consume but remain largely oblivious to the specific ways in which that ideology works. **********
