By 2048 the libertarians have finally won. All levels of US government have been dismantled. Everything has become private property, the public sphere greatly diminished, all but gone. The only remaining public functions are national and domestic defense, and these are in practice largely controlled by private interests.


The ancient law of the primeval jungle has been resurrected as the ruling principle of a corporate jungle of technological power. Once again it’s every man and woman for him/herself. It’s no-holds-barred competition. It’s the LIVE FREE OR DIE American ideal.


For those who haven’t been paying attention to the libertarian, free-enterprise, privatization-of-everything movement, it might come as quite a shock to realize just what sort of world these powerful interests have in mind for us.
