Independence Day

Independence Day is also known as the Fourth of July, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Our founding fathers voted and signed the Declaration of Independence from Kingdom of Great Britain and united all 13 American Colonies. It is a national holiday marked by patriotic displays. John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail saying “It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty… it ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”
