Libraries and Larceny

A priceless book. A packed library. Two hours later, it’s gone.

Librarian Trixie Pristine dreams of opening her own bookstore someday. For now, she just wants her Friday night fundraiser at the Romero Public Library to go off without a hitch.

The crowd is huge. The charcuterie is amazing. And the star of the evening, a signed first edition by a beloved local author, sits safely in a locked glass case.

Until it doesn’t.

The book belongs to Eleanor, the woman who hired Trixie at sixteen. Now it has vanished on Trixie’s watch, and suspects are everywhere. There’s a slick rare book dealer from Chicago and a grumpy treasurer who called the whole display reckless. And then there’s a room full of neighbors who all had their eyes on that case.

Trixie has one night to find the book before her mentor’s heart breaks and her career goes with it.

Before the Read Wine Bookstore, there was a librarian with a knack for noticing things.

A short, clean cozy mystery prequel to the Read Wine Bookstore Mysteries.
