"A dark and sad erotic masterpiece about a madman who accidentally finds love."

Maybe the world is insane. Maybe the people have gone mad and lost their humanity. Jack takes a sip of his favorite brewed coffee as he stares out the window from a beat-up coffee shop as he watches a crazy man being dragged across the street by another lunatic. On the other side of the street, he sees people watching the same scene as if they were watching a movie. They are there, but only there – watching. Maybe this is how God feels about this world, and this is what the Creator does all the time: watch.

Jack overhears a middle-aged man sitting at a table beside him. The man is talking to his wife on the phone. Apparently, his wife has cheated on him. The man hangs up the phone and cries silently. Jack somehow feels for him. It is not that Jack has been cheated on by a woman before, but he knows what pain is and how it kills the soul, which is ever a good thing. Jack finishes drinking his coffee and takes a knife out from his bag. It is a silver knife with a 6-inch blade. The middle-aged man sees the knife and feels some fear. Surely, he has seen knives before but not when held by a someone like Jack. However, he is too sad to make any reaction.

"Do you like it?" Jack asks.

The man remains silent and continues to think about his wife, and also about shouting or running away. However, Jack looks kinds as usual and is very calm. This somehow gives the man some relief. For a moment, he thinks that, probably, the strange man with a knife is merely showing his knife. Meanwhile, everyone is busy with their own business. The coffee shop is barely empty, and while all other eyes are watching the scene of the lunatics, Jack quickly thrusts the knife into the man. A one-stab kill.

This is something that Jack loves about knives. There is no skill needed. All you need is the courage to wield it, and it would seem that you have practiced how to use it for many years. The man is silent and in tears, and everyone and is busy.

"This happens every day to many people," Jack whispers. "You just don't realize it." With this parting words, he flicks and twists the knife inside the man's body, finally completing the job. All that is needed to do now is wait for a little while. He retrieves the knife and places it back in his bag. Jack is calm and relaxed all along. He stands and looks at the people outside watching the two lunatics who are now laughing with each other. Jack smiles and walks away.

As Jack is walking back to his apartment, he sees a lady holding a sign that says, "I need a hug, PLEASE!" He could not see her face. Her face is covered with cheap cardboard with a sad-face drawing. He could barely see her eyes. Jack stops and observes the scene. The people are there just as he is, but he seems to be the only person who could see the girl. He counts the people that pass by her. After counting up to 20, he smiles mockingly. He quickly walks towards her and takes her in her arms.

"Thank you," the lady says, her voice sounding sweet and gently.

"No, thank you," Jack replies. "I need a hug, too."

They release the embrace and stand facing each other. Jack looks at her, staring at her cardboard sad face, and the woman stands motionless. She could see him, and she sees tears pooling in his eyes.

"Are you alright, sir?" she asks.

Without a word, Jack runs away, to his apartment. As soon as he reaches his place, he sits on the floor with his back leaning against the wall, and cries.
