Publisher Description
The #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Words of Radiance, from epic fantasy author Brandon Sanderson at the top of his game.
In Oathbringer, the third volume of the New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive, humanity faces a new Desolation with the return of the Voidbringers, a foe with numbers as great as their thirst for vengeance.
Dalinar Kholin’s Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost: The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction, and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.
Nestled in the mountains high above the storms, in the tower city of Urithiru, Shallan Davar investigates the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant and unearths dark secrets lurking in its depths. And Dalinar realizes that his holy mission to unite his homeland of Alethkar was too narrow in scope. Unless all the nations of Roshar can put aside Dalinar’s blood-soaked past and stand together—and unless Dalinar himself can confront that past—even the restoration of the Knights Radiant will not prevent the end of civilization.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Brandon Sanderson’s third instalment in the Stormlight Archive, his sweeping sword-and-sorcery saga, finds his deeply complex world on the brink of destruction. A literal storm and a dangerous war are brewing on the horizon, and it seems the forces bearing down on the land have been growing for years. Through lengthy flashbacks, we learn the compelling backstory of one of Roshar’s most bloodthirsty and revered warriors, Dalinar Kholin. In the present, he undertakes a mission to unite the squabbling kingdoms—but will it be enough to stand against the dark tide of the Voidbringers, an enemy whose destructive power knows no bounds? We loved Sanderson’s rich descriptions of this beautiful and volatile world. This tale might be the darkest of the series to date, and it left us wondering if these weary heroes will be able to confront the ugly truth behind their power. The stakes are higher than ever as the warring kingdoms of Roshar must finally consider uniting against a common threat. The entire series has been moving to this point, and Sanderson does not disappoint.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
The much-anticipated third Stormlight Archive epic fantasy installment is classic Sanderson, with multiple story lines and unexpected twists and turns. Dalinar Kholin has to rebuild his Alethi army to fight the Voidbringers; he's also grappling with the consequences of his past actions. Scholar's apprentice Shallan Davar delves deeper into the long-lost mysteries to find ways to save the world from destruction, and Kaladin Stormblessed heads out on the trail of the enemy. Maps, illustrations in Shallan's sketchbook, and excerpts from Navani's notes are rich in detail and add critical layers to the fantasy. Sanderson is a master at misdirecting readers with carefully plotted detours, and he dribbles out revelations leading up to the climactic clash. This is just the third title in a massive 10-part saga, so there is still a lot of groundwork to be laid, but Sanderson successfully balances introducing new elements and satisfactorily resolving some threads, leaving fans to eagerly await the next in the series.
