Patanon Patanon

Publisher Description

The novel is written in the bildungsroman genre work of fiction portraying a

picaresque adventure story set in the past and spanning the globe. The

journey takes Nick, a young man, to manhood via self-awareness through

existential experiences chasing windmills that occur in unique historic

settings such as the great rice terraces of the Philippine Cordillera, Ankor

Wat in Cambodia, the jungles of Irian Jaya in Indonesia, The Great Pyramid of

Egypt, the Roman Forum, and Central Park in New York.

The title comes from the Ifugao word for walking stick - patanon(g) as

viewed on the cover used to traverse the rice terraces of Batad in the

Mountain Province of the Philippines. Sit back in your easy chair, order a cool

drink, and relive the existential flow of experiences capturing the magic that

produces what Freud calls the oceanic feeling of freedom.
