Phat Diem Cathedral

The series ‘Vietnam Strong & Flexible’ consist of nine volumes composing a travelogue from the Northern Mountains to the Mekong Delta. Together the books offer plenty of historical notes, and eye-opening facts leading to strong opinions and observations on culture, religion, economy, politics and social issues.


The fourth volume in the series describes the Phat Diem Cathedral, a remarkable sanctuary. The book further explores the Cathedral’s role in Vietnam’s Catholic history and in today’s fast evolving Vietnamese society. The text and the 53 original pictures offer the reader a holistic view of the edifice and its meaning within the Vietnamese society.
