Sir George Webbe Dasent (1817・896) little known folk tale's translator and contributor The Times newspaper. He was born 22 May 1817 at St. Vincent, west Indies, in family of John Roche Dasent who was attorney general.

He was educated at Westminster School, King's College, London. And continued it at Oxford University. He get a diplomatic job at Stockholm, Sweden. When he became developing in Scandinavian mythology and literature. One of his the most famous published book is named The Story of Burnt Njal. 

The Old Dame and Her Hen is a short story about an old widow who have 3 daughters and  the Man o' the Hill who lives in the deep cave into the cleft. One day The Old Dame's Hen run away and Dame couldn’t find her around the house. So why she told her daughters do it. But it will be not easy task, because  the Man o' the Hill want to find a “sweetheart”. Which of girls will be the most brave and smart is an interesting question.
