They Always Said Yes

Al and Irene Kay's Life of Community Service

Publisher Description

What Al and Irene Kay accomplished during their almost 64 years of marriage was remarkable. Individually or together, they helped to build a regional library in the Mayfield area of suburban Cleveland, create a school for children with hearing impairments, save a city park, start a multi-suburb recreational organization, establish a group home for mentally challenged citizens, and form a vocational cooperative, among many other accomplishments. When asked, Irene insisted that everything they worked on was important to them. They always said yes to everyone. They never considered not serving.

Written by their daughter Adrienne Gallagher and edited by their daughter Leslie Andrzejewski, They Always Said Yes provides a record of the passion, dedication, and generous service that distinguished Al and Irene Kay. Gallagher has included a history of the Kays, photos, and listings of their awards and leadership involvement as well as tributes from others.
