"Celephaïs" by H.P. Lovecraft is a beautifully melancholic and poetic masterpiece from his celebrated Dream Cycle. The story follows Kuranes, a dispossessed and lonely man living in the gray, indifferent streets of London. Desperate to escape the mundane misery of the waking world, he seeks to return to Celephaïs—a magnificent, timeless city of eternal youth and beauty that he created in his childhood dreams. As his obsession drives him to use dangerous means to prolong his sleep, the boundaries between reality, fantasy, and madness completely dissolve. What follows is a hauntingly tragic exploration of nostalgia, escapism, and the magnificent worlds that lie just beyond human consciousness.
Narrated by horror author Jonathan Dunne.
