A star falls. The dead awaken.

Dex Williamson finds them everywhere: Slow, rancid creatures with an unsettling resemblance to zombies; radiant and wise people like angels; swollen and malevolent men, nicknamed "goons;" and golden, flashing beings without bodies.

From among these rises the Reverend Masterplan. He intends to lead them to the missing Star, claiming it's the key to mankind's salvation.

Seeking a job with the Reverend's Rapture Carnival, Dex finds angel Lana White imprisoned in ice. When he frees her--and she reveals the Reverend's true intentions--it sets off a chase through an America ravaged by demonstorms, a Las Vegas casino of the future, a golden airship made of ghosts, and a town called Eternity USA that doesn't seem to be on any map.

Can Dex and Lana overcome the dangers, evade the Reverend and find the Star first?
