[85 Wash2d Page 415] Five petitions for writs of habeas corpus have been consolidated since each presents substantially the same question.1 Each petitioner is presently incarcerated in a Washington state mental hospital, committed as criminally insane after an acquittal of criminal charges by reason of insanity. They now challenge the criminal mental commitment law as violative of equal protection and due process.
