By petition for writ of mandamus, relator, BP Products North America Inc., challenges the trial courts July 19, 2006 order granting the motion of the real parties in interest, the Plaintiffs Steering Committee ("Plaintiffs"), to compel production of documents used by BP to compute a reserve figure reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). Days after the March 23, 2005 explosion at the Texas City refinery, BP reported that it had reserved $700 million to resolve its estimated liability for personal injuries and fatalities arising from the incident. The Plaintiffs sought discovery of the documents used to compute the reserve figure.
