Kris Longknife's Replacement

Kris Longknife has been ordered back to human space.  Admiral Sandy Santiago has the job of replacing her.  However, can any mere mortal fill a Longknife's shoes?  Particularly Kris Longknife's shoes?

Sandy has problems.  Lots of problems.  She's got alien birds that don't want to use money.  Alien cats with their paws on the nuclear button.  Alen monsters that want a rematch so they can kill every human.

Oh, and she's got Rita Nuu Longknife on her hands.  How can a gal get so lucky?
