For some years prior to 1931, M. E. Lavenstein, H. H. Lavenstein and A. L. Lavenstein were prominent business men in Petersburg.
As the Lavenstein Corporation, they conducted a department store. As the Lavenstein Realty Corporation, they dealt in real
estate, as they did through the DuPont City Development Company.
