Ernest Rhys was an English writer and man of letters. In 1921, he edited "The Haunters and The Haunted: Ghost Stories and Tales of the Supernatural” collection. Ernest Rhys chose 57 ghost stories from literary works, folklore and myth to create an anthology that is both textbooks of the supernatural and storybook of the middle world of ghosts.“Powys Castle” is one of these legends.

Powys Castle dates back to the 13th century when it was a medieval stronghold for the Welsh princes of Powys. It is now the ancestral home for the Earls of Powys and has been continuously lived in for over seven hundred years.
