The Dead Man's Version

Nolan Price promises his wife he'll be home before midnight. By morning, he is dead in his burned-out workroom, and a confession posted minutes before the emergency call is spreading online.

The statement appears to explain the forged record behind an earlier BCRG case. For Nolan's family, it means grieving a man strangers have already decided was guilty. For the investigators, it raises a question the post cannot answer: who actually wrote it?

As the team traces Nolan's last evening and the records he was trying to put right, a witness brings Jonah Rainer's own past into the investigation. Eighteen years ago, Jonah helped pressure an innocent man into confessing to murder. Now that man has information they need, and every reason to keep Jonah away.

Working with the county investigators, BCRG follows the evidence through damaged devices and documents whose history matters as much as their contents. Someone alive has a great deal to lose if they get it right. And the people who can help them are becoming harder to keep safe.

The Dead Man's Version is the third and final book in The BCRG Files trilogy, a grounded crime thriller about the damage a false account can do, and what it takes to answer for it.
