My brother has almost all the Behind the Story books because he and his wife are avid readers and he lent me this one since I am such a Clancy fan.

“What was the inspiration behind the creation of this book?”

The trigger for the idea of writing about Kennedy’s assassination happened a lot of years ago. It was November 22, 1971 and he was teaching in high school. It had been eight years after Kennedy’s assassination and it was being remembered that day, and with his co-teachers, they were discussing about what could have happened if Kennedy had lived.(38) Everything about it intrigued King. JFK, he said, was killed at a time when America was in a crossroads—Vietnam, civil rights movement, Cold War—while Kennedy was managing everything with “great vigor.”  (14) King said Kennedy has a lot of charisma, and a lot of people believed that he, as president, would do something positive about the issues. But then he was killed and it was impossible not to wonder what could have happened if he had lived. But it was just several years away from the assassination, and King felt that it was too early to write a comprehensive, justifiable novel about it. Plus, he was too young and too inexperienced a writer to tackle the story. He felt he was not mature enough, too. So he abandoned the project in the meantime...

Don't miss out! Its highly recommended.

"if you're a real literature junkie or a diehard fan of the novel (I am both) it's really a must read. Highly recommended.
