1. Black Jack: Published: 1921.

The story begins with the death of an outlaw, Black Jack, which is witnessed by a spinster and her lazy brother. Black Jack had an infant son, now orphaned, and the brother and sister discuss the topic of nature vs. nurture. The spinster determines to raise the infant and make an honest man of him. Her brother bets the child will kill a man before age 25.


2. Bull Hunter: Published: 1921.

The townsfolk living between San Antonio and Cheyenne brace themselves for the confrontation of a lifetime when the giant Bull Hunter and brawny gunslinger Pete Reeve face each other down. 

Reeve wounds Bull Hunters uncle in the ensuing gunfight and Bull sets out to track down the gunman. Not for revenge but to silence those who laughed at him and said he was too big to be any good. Bull eventually finds Reeve in a jailhouse waiting to be hung for murder but it will take more than a lawman to keep Bull away from his prey. 3. Bad Man's Gulch: Published: 1926.
