Bambi - Unabridged

"Bambi" is one of the most famous novels in all of children's literature. An instant classic when it was first released in 1923, it formed the basis of the cherished Walt Disney animated film of the same name.

Bambi is a young roe deer growing up in the forest, where every season brings beauty, danger, and discovery. Guided by his mother and later by the wise Old Prince, he learns the laws of woodland life. His friendships with Faline, Gobo, and other animals reveal the joys of companionship, while encounters with hunters expose the cruelty and unpredictability of the human world.

Salten combines poetic nature writing with a realistic portrayal of survival, loss, maturity, and renewal. More than just a children's adventure, the novel is a meditation on independence, mortality, and the balance between vulnerability and strength. Bambi's journey from sheltered fawn to capable adult reflects the enduring cycles of the natural world, leaving readers with respect for wildlife.

"Bambi" is presented here in its original and unabridged format, as translated from the German by David Wyllie.
