Science of a Sled Dog

Descripción editorial

Every year, sled dogs run approximately 1000 miles of rough terrain to compete in the Iditarod in Anchorage, Alaska. These sled dogs have been bred for many years to achieve this great task. This book, written by 9th grade Biology students, was written to teach others about the science of a sled dog. Here, readers will learn about the adaptations that make sled dogs unique through the acronym HAWL: Heart and Hydration, Attitude and Appetite, Weight, and Lungs (created by Dr. Stewart Nelson).
