Descripción editorial

Erewhon Revisited, published in 1901, is the sequel to Samuel Butler’s earlier satire Erewhon. Set two decades after the original, the story follows the return of Higgs (the narrator of the first novel) to Erewhon, where he is now worshipped as a god. Butler continues his critique of religion, society, and authority, using the fictional setting to parody the creation and institutionalization of belief systems. Though less known than its predecessor, Erewhon Revisited deepens the philosophical satire and reflects Butler’s continued skepticism toward conformity and orthodoxy.
