More Than Nine Lives

They say a cat has nine lives.

Brian Bailey stopped counting his a long time ago.

He has worked in trades, military service, medical response, logistics, construction, diving, acting, writing and more unusual corners than most people could fit into several lifetimes. Each new role became another world to enter, understand and eventually leave behind.

From the outside, that kind of life can look unstable.

From the inside, a clear pattern emerges.

More Than Nine Lives is a personal reflection on competence, fear, pain, authority, solitude, preparedness and the systems people are expected to obey without questioning. It examines what happens when being useful becomes inconvenient, why organizations often protect appearances instead of solving problems and how repeated endings can create resilience instead of destroying it.

This is not a story about constantly starting over.

It is about finishing one life, carrying forward what survived and building the next with more knowledge than before.

Through honest observations and understated humour, Brian explains why he stopped measuring his life by permanence and began measuring it by capability, adaptability and the ability to leave without losing himself.
