Elizabeth is still reeling from her encounter with Mr. Darcy when she is invited to go along with her aunt and uncle on a trip. Lydia, who is behaving badly, becomes a central focus of Elizabeth’s ire as Elizabeth struggles to deal with her melancholy and her regret over having dismissed Mr. Darcy’s last proposal, of which she cannot tell a soul. Elizabeth and her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner visit Darcy's estate in Derbyshire, Pemberley. It is there that Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have a tryst in the conservatory and Elizabeth realizes her truest feelings for him. But Fate intervenes in the form of an urgent message summoning Elizabeth back home, and to a scandal that could ruin all their lives forever.
