It's 1885, and London is under attack. Teams of Irish Americans armed with dynamite are blowing up bridges, trains, and even Scotland Yard. But when Her Majesty's government sends Sherlock Holmes to New York City, where the conspiracy is being hatched in newspaper offices, pubs, and possibly City Hall, the Irish American agenda for establishing home rule meets its match. As Holmes works with skeptical New York detectives, two British diplomats are murdered in Central Park. A trail of verse and violence leads Holmes into the heart of New York's Irish underworld and toward a woman as dangerous as she is gifted with words. As the great detective closes in, powerful forces within New York's Irish community move to protect their own-turning the city into a battlefield of wit, loyalty, and hidden allegiances.
