The Halloween Luck Spell

Marina Mercer is back in Bayberry Creek for Halloween, and this year her annual spell request sounds almost suspiciously simple.

She wants luck.

Amelia duly casts the spell. Then Bayberry Creek becomes extraordinarily fortunate.

Prizes are won. Money turns up in unexpected places. Near disasters end in miraculous escapes. Long shots suddenly pay off. Marina, naturally, is thrilled.

Amelia is considerably less enthusiastic when the town's remarkable run of good fortune begins to look a little too remarkable.

Then someone is murdered.

With Halloween celebrations under way and luck behaving in increasingly peculiar ways, Amelia finds herself drawn into a case where fortunate accidents, improbable coincidences, and very human motives are becoming difficult to separate.

Because in Bayberry Creek, even good luck can have a body count.
