The Tarot Homicides

Two homicides, two tarot cards, two sisters divided by the past: an electrifying mystery from acclaimed Italian crime writer Barbara Baraldi.

Two murders shake Trieste’s upper middle class. The victims appear to have nothing in common, but a tarot card is found at each crime scene. Commissioner Emma Bellini recognizes the cards immediately: they belong to a deck created years ago by her estranged sister, Maia, an aspiring artist with a passion for divination.

Determined to uncover what the cards mean—and how they connect the murders—Emma abruptly reenters her sister’s life. A stunned Maia insists that she destroyed the deck long ago, following a traumatic event that led her to abandon tarot reading altogether.

Putting aside years of resentment, the sisters begin investigating together: Emma follows the evidence, while Maia follows the cards. Their search draws them into a vortex of enigmas and startling revelations, exposing the dark underbelly of Trieste’s provincial elite.
