Growing up in foster care, Zoe Copeland has always longed for somewhere to call home. Now, as she and her eleven-year-old daughter face eviction, she’s determined for Florence to grow up with the stability she never did. So when an affordable cottage comes on the market, she grabs this chance with both hands.

The only catch? It’s a treasure house, filled to the brink with junk, situated in the middle of a tiny seaside town she’s never heard of. While Florence’s falling in love with the various knick-knacks, Zoe can’t shake the feeling she’s made a terrible mistake, especially when her grouchy (and frustratingly handsome) neighbour Jake thinks she’s crazy for taking it on . . . even as he keeps showing up to help.

As they begin clearing the house, Zoe is drawn into the mystery of its former owner, Marly, and the place she left behind. The more she uncovers, the more she begins to see parallels with her own story and before long, the past she’s tried to so hard to outrun starts catching up with her.
