Descripción editorial
This United States Army manual, Training Circular TC 1-19.30 Percussion Techniques September 2025, provides Army percussionists and auxiliary percussionists with common techniques and considerations for the successful performance of their job. It describes percussion instruments used by Army Bands, with performance and maintenance techniques for each instrument. This publication is a reference guide to be used when needed.
The principal audience for TC 1-19.30 is Army percussionists, auxiliary percussionists, trainers, and musical supervisors. Army percussionists hold military occupational specialty (MOS) 42R and additional skill identifier (ASI) 9M. Auxiliary percussionists are MOS 42R and normally hold the ASI 9H, 9K, 9N, 9T, 9U, 9V, or 9X.
This publication serves as the primary reference for both resident and nonresident percussion techniques instruction presented to Soldiers, noncommissioned officers, warrant officer bandmasters, and commissioned officers. Trainers and first-line supervisors should ensure Soldiers holding ASI of 9M, 9H, 9K, 9N, 9T, 9U, 9V, and 9X (skill level 1-4) have access to this publication. It should be made available in the Soldiers’ work area, unit learning center, and unit libraries.
