Jianna asks, “Okay, where would James Dyll take me? Maybe, some raucous pizza place where the computer people hang out?”
Her mother pounces, “James Dyll wants to take you to the Sampan.”
Jianna is surprised, “Wait a minute. If I remember correctly, the Sampan is a Chinese place with a legendary view over a nighttime beach.”
Her mother says brightly, “Real Chinese food, with a romantic moonlight view.”

Jianna is marched, reluctantly, into the Sea Bird Bar, by (Jian) Janey, an executive with the company where James Dyll works.
(James Dyll proves to be a very hard looking man, who is not ugly, at least not all that ugly. James is wearing a very attractive suit. Well, Jianna is wearing a watered silk dress that shows more watered silk than skin. Jianna observes that she and James Dyll are perhaps a bit over dressed for the Sea Bird Bar. Despite Jianna’s worst fears, James Dyll is not dressed in uncured animal skins. In fact James Dyll is dressed in what must be a top of the line, patterned black wool suit.)
Janey introduces Jianna and James.
James responds with, “Hello, lovely lady.”
Jianna says, “Hello James, you are somewhat different than what I was led to expect.”
James starts things off with a mini lecture, “Due to heredity, plus my nightly work outs, I am built somewhat differently that the average man. Thus, I have my suits tailored. With a bit of careful shopping, I sometimes manage to buy mill end fabric, that project an upscale image.”
Jianna says, “Yes, the textured fabric does something.”
James says, “The watered silk dress that you wear leaves many of the rest of the ladies looking like they are wearing upscale burlap.”
Jianna smiles and says, “James, you are really on tonight.” (My ‘wolf dog on the prowl’ alarm is in full cry, but I ignore the warning.)
James Dyll says, “Well, when I am in social company, I try to rise to the occasion.”
Jianna asks, “Janey, is he always like this?”
* * *
My doorbell rings and it’s Jason Dyll, come to pick me up. I’m dressed in a short little black dress, with a strand of Mikimoto pearls.
Jason wears a flashy gold toned suit. He says, “Jianna, you look fabulous, no other word will do.” (Okay, what Jason means is you look fabulous in your LBD and even better out of your LBD. The night may well get to hand to hand.)
Jason escorts me out to his car and off we go, to the Sampan.
It’s my first time at the Sampan and I find that the staff is all Chinese. I mention the fact to Jason.
Jason says, “Yes, the staff is mostly from the Bejing area, in northern China, and they all speak Mandarin. There are any number of Chinese dialects, with most of them unintelligible to speakers of the other dialects. No, I don’t speak Mandarin, but the host or hostess here always speaks American.”
We have been seated out on a balcony, overlooking the moonlit beach area. It’s like a scene from a romance movie. I tell Jason, “It’s a spectacular view!”
Jason replies, “I wanted to take you here to the Sampan, when it’s near the full moon. The view is always good, but near the full moon, it’s, as you said, spectacular!”
We get the food and it’s really good. We eat and sip a good red wine. The view, the food and the wine is almost enough to make me forget that Jason wants to get me in the nude and then screw my brains out. A little delay, before the sex, is necessary here.
I ask Jason, “You are in computers. They say that you are doing well, from a business perspective. Why?”
