A 50 word horror flash fiction challenge inspired Study 421. It was followed by more stories about Doctor Bell and his tinnitus cure research using human subjects. This book contains scenes of satire, violence, coarse language, and very unethical studies. If only Bell were a real doctor doing proper clinical trials and not an optimistic psychopath.
STUDY 421: ROTARY
"I can fix you," muttered Bell.
She struggled against the restraints.
He carefully selected a bit. Sizing it to her ear canal until satisfied.
The drill buzz was louder than any tinnitus she had known.
"It should work...this time," he murmured as the drill spiraled into her ear.
Amazon & Goodreads Reviews:
What a fast-paced riot of a read!
A vivid horror of incompetence with a Machiavellian lead.
This book makes clinical trials seem like butcher shops where scientists do whatever they want completely without regard to evidence, common sense, and the well-being of the participants.
Great story. The low key humor was superb.
