Excerpt:

Warmth suffused Ashe from her chest up to her cheeks. She looked back to see Zephy gazing at her expectantly.

“But now you’re here!” Ashe supplied, perhaps a bit too loudly.

Zephy smiled. “Yes, I am.”

“So…”

Before she could say another word, Zephy leaned forward, put her hand up to Ashe’s cheek, and kissed her.

The breath Ashe had been about to take caught in her throat instead, and she was put in the unexpected position of being unable to breathe, but not really caring. Zephy’s lips against hers were warm and satin-soft, which for some reason surprised her. She had almost expected Zephy’s mouth to be cold because of the blue tint to her lips.

As this observation bubbled up in her mind she giggled. Then, remembering where she was and what she was doing, she cut it short. But it was too late—Zephy had already pulled away, scanning Ashe’s eyes with a small line of worry standing out in the middle of her pristine forehead.

Ashe gulped for air. How was she supposed to explain that she was laughing at herself, not Zephy?

Somehow, something must have come through in her own expression, because after studying her for about half a minute Zephy broke into a broad smile.

“Finally!” she breathed. “I’m sorry, I’d just been wanting to do that all day and I only just got the chance to—”

Ashe cut her off with another kiss, this one desperate, fumbling, and all the more satisfying for it.
