GALATA MUSEUM

Firstly, I would like to state that this is an introductory book on our museum. When I earned the right to become a museum director in 2007, I was appointed to Diwan Literature Museum, which was a peaceful haven compared to other museums in the historical peninsula of İstanbul. As was Can Kerametli’s book Galata Mevlevihanesi, Divan Edebiyatı Müzesi (Galata Mawlawi Lodge, Diwan Literature Museum), written in 1977 when Diwan Literature Museum was governed by Turkish and Islamic Works Museum Directorate, this book was also published by Touring and Automobile Club of Turkey. I have been managing this museum for ten years and seen its transformation from Diwan Literature Museum into Galata Mawlawi Lodge Museum, therefore time was ripe for a publication on the history of the museum.
