Interactions Between Transportation Capacity, Economic Systems, and Land Use

This report from the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2), which is administered by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies, discusses 100 case studies that document the long-term, before-and-after economic impacts of a variety of highway capacity investments. The report and accompanying T-PICS (Transportation Project Impact Case Studies) website make it possible to assess economic impacts during community visioning or during stakeholder involvement in long-range system or corridor planning. The case studies primarily focus on highway projects, but a number of intermodal projects are included.
