Titlul este reprezentat de numele personajului principal în jurul căreia se desfășoară acțiunea. Semnificația titlului este sugestiva, deoarece această creație este mai întâi romanul, al cărei destin constituie axa fundamentală a epicii. Tema romanului o constituie fresca socială a lumii ardelenești, cu moravurile ei specifice, așezată la interferența satului cu orașul, într-un târg ardelenesc. Acțiunea este plasată la sfârșitul secolului al XIX-lea și începutul secolului al XX-lea.

Boring start, Incredible and exciting towards the end.
At first the book is all about Mara’s childen and their lives. Then it suddenly takes a turn and dives into some forbidden love and towards the start of the second half the book becomes an event handler and keeps the reader on top of his toes, leaving the reader wondering how will things end up at each chapter.
Worst book I’ve read as of yet
It’s just really slow, the ending is pretty nice tho
