No Fixed Horizon is something different.

Sorin Avram has been moving through the world since the age of six, first on overnight trains for gymnastics competitions, pressing his face against cold windows while others slept, later across four continents with the discipline of a geographer and the instincts of someone who genuinely wants to be present. He holds two doctorates, has led research for the World Bank and the Romanian Academy, and received a national prize for a book about disappearing ecosystems. He studies what is vanishing. He also goes to see it.

In these dispatches from the far edges of the world, he writes about the silence of Namibia's dead city of Kolmanskop, half-buried under sand.
