Publisher Description
1. Locke's 'person' For the classical tradition, the question of what unifies a person throughout his life--the question of personal identity ('PI') was easily answered by referring to the soul or thinking substance. A person was considered to be his immaterial substance, so that the criterion for PI became: X is the same person as Y, if and only if X and Y are the same thinking substances.
