Life of Stephen A. Douglas

The Biography of the American politician nicknamed the Little Giant from the western state of Illinois who was the Democratic Party nominee for President in 1860. Stephen Arnold Douglas was born at Brandon, Vermont, on the 23rd of April, 1813. His father was a physician, descended from Scotch ancestors, who had settled in Connecticut before the Revolution.
