Jerusalem is about to be destroyed by the Assyrians. King Hezekiah has taken a stance, not only against his enemies, but also against many of his own people. He has committed himself (and the city) to the words of the LORD through Isaiah the prophet—Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land. Was Hezekiah correct to trust the LORD in such a desperate situation?
He waits anxiously to hear news of the fighting.
