Daddy's Hands

As far back as she could remember, Emily's Daddy had used her to gratify his perverted sexual needs, while her Mama turned a blind eye to the daily trauma she was forced to endure. Emily was left to wonder if both her parents were working together to harm her. Emily learned early on the rules of Daddy's secret game. He warned Emily, repeatedly, that should she tell her Mama that he touched her, her Mama would be mad at her and blame her; after all, he said, it was her fault. Emily was fearful of her Mama's anger, and was quite certain that her Mama would blame her and do little to protect her. When Emily finally worked up the courage to tell her Mama that Daddy puts his hands in her pants, her Mama stared through her and walked away; she never uttered a word. Emily's worse, gut-retching suspicions were confirmed. There was no safe place for Emily.

Dr. Rita Makela has her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She has spent several years specializing in work with the criminal population including those who are incarcerated. In addition, she has extensive experience working with the sex offender population. She is currently married, has 5 children, and 3 grandchildren. She lives in Northern Minnesota in the woods, and she spends her time loving her family and writing.
