Utgivarens beskrivning

At 2:46 p.m. on March 11th, 2011, a Great East Japan Earthquake hit the northeast part of Japan, causing a serious damage around the Pacific coast of Tohoku, and the earthquake spawned the tsunami that hit the area more than 800 km north to south. As of December 2011, 9 month since the earthquake, more than 300,000 people have been forced to live in shelters or temporary housing, and more than 120,000 people have been out of work as a direct or indirect result of the earthquake, and this number is likely to increase, according to the research.

The “Life after Shock” series is victims’ memoirs of the Great East Japan Earthquake and their later lives, and is mainly composed of photos taken by them, explanatory notes on those photos, and audio data.

Since the authors are not professional writers, texts may be obscure or awkward, and sometimes they may not be able to tell you exactly what they would like to tell. Even if we put this series on a blog because candid records of personal experience are tend to be neglected by the mass media, we will still have the problems with continuity and permanence. That was why we have published this in electronic form.

We will be publishing our books continuously, and we hope you will continue reading them.
