Obsession

Before I realized, I heard myself shouting out his name. He looked at me, seemed a tad shocked and I walked up to him, while he waved his hands in a comforting way.
“Cara, this is not what you think. She thinks I like her, but I want to break things off with her for a long time now,” he said, which made Elina look at him in shock. “You too know something blossomed between us today. How can I possibly…”
“I’m sorry Grace, may I interrupt for a minute here?”
I startled and looked up. The psychologist looked at me. I thought she was smiling, but I couldn’t see for sure.
“What?” I asked.
“You know that last part didn’t happen like that,” she replied.
“What do you mean?”
“You know he didn’t react like that. And neither did you, by the way.”
