Scandal

What is a scandal? I always wonder, what exact definition of a scandal is. Is it just an act deviating from those so called morally allowed acts? Or for that matter, any acts which are not in conformity with some socially accepted acts. Can those be taken as scandalous acts as a group?Again the question comes in my mind, what are morally allowed and socially accepted acts.
