Based on field research for the Tennessee State Parks Folklife Project, 1979-81, this intriguing story within a story offers history, mystery, romance and humor. In hard copy, the novel (originally published in 2002) has been used for folklore and cultural studies classes on the university level, as well as enjoyed by a wide audience.

The author is a folklorist, curator and education specialist at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage in Washington, DC.
