Silverkill

A quaint village. A dark history. Welcome to Silverkill.

For Jake and Drew Pierce, 2002 is a no-good, awful, terrible year. After losing their mother and becoming orphans at age seventeen, the fraternal twins are forced to leave Southern California to live with an uncle they’ve never met.

Their new home is Silverkill, a small village tucked among the hills and hollows of upstate New York, where dusty roads cut through ancient woods and creaking windmills churn beside the creek that gives the place its name. Silverkill is where Jake and Drew’s mother grew up—and where their reclusive uncle, Gavin Pierce, still lives in a manor house on the outskirts of the village.

Left mostly on their own, the twins try to adapt to their new surroundings in very different ways. For good-looking and gregarious Jake, that means falling in with a crowd of jocks and cheerleaders. Quiet and intelligent Drew haunts the local library, becoming friendly with a pair of outcasts.

But tragedy strikes the twins again during Silverkill’s annual Harvest Moon Festival, when one of their new friends is found dead, the victim of a killer that seems more animal than human.

The murder dredges up disturbing information about their uncle, similar long-ago deaths in the village, and rumors of a fearsome beast that stalks the woods. As they dig deeper into the past, Jake and Drew begin to wonder not just who, but what, is hunting the residents of Silverkill.
