Utgivarens beskrivning

A terrifying ghost is haunting the ancient mansion of Canterville Chase, complete with creaking floorboards, clanking chains and gruesome disguises - but the new occupants seem strangely undisturbed by his presence. Deftly contrasting the conventional gothic ghost story with the pragmatism of the modern world, Wilde creates a gently comic fable of the conflict between old and new. Rupert Degas' hilarious reading brings the absurdity and theatricality of the story to life.

It’s a very good reading

I must confess, I didn’t actually know that this story was written by Oscar Wilde. I remember in my school days, we set up a play with this story. I remembered it fondly; however, it was of course “modernised”. Reading it in the original language gave it another dimension, and while being a funny story with a lot of humour in it, it also made me feel for the old ghost. It goes to prove Oscar Wilde’s genious in writing. This story is a must read, a feel-good story… I wish they would make a nice film out of it :)
