Exciting conclusion to the al-Andalus series as the people of Córdoba fight to survive.
It is 1008AD, in Córdoba, the capital of the caliphate of al-Andalus.
When our story opens, al-Mansur has been dead for six years and al-Hisham II, the caliph and rightful ruler of al-Andalus, continues to live an isolated life in the palace of Madinat al-Zahra. The country is now ruled by al-Mansur's eldest son, Abd al-Malik, but he is not the man his father was and soon there are threats to his supremacy. As rival factions struggle to take control of the city, the future does not look good for al-Hisham and the Omayyad dynasty. The caliph turns to his childhood friend, Ahmad for help, but Ahmad is a falconer not a soldier and his priority is to keep his family safe. When the city is besieged, and there seems to be no escape for them, he finds help from an unexpected source. Now he must choose between saving al-Hisham and risking his family's safety or keeping his promise.
