Truth, Understanding, Purpose & The Five Living Generations

In every church I’ve served, there has been a constant tension and struggle between the generations.  And yet, the healthiest and most vibrant churches are the ones where the various generations are all represented and striving to live and exist side-by-side.  This is not an easy thing to do, though.  Add to that tension that, for the first time in human history, there are five generations alive together at the same time.

This sermon series sought to help each generation understand the others - the cultural “soup” which formed and shaped them and how they approach and engage the world.  It also invites each generation to serve the others in particular ways.

This series was inspired and influenced by a similar series preached by Rev. Tom Letts, who is the senior pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Anchorage, Alaska, the church I served as associate pastor from 2005-2006.  I continue to be grateful for his mentoring and friendship during that time and since.
